Meet the new Piper M700 Fury, the latest entry in the Piper Aircraft PA46 lineup. Boasting a 301-knot maximum cruise speed, the turboprop plane is the fastest single-engine aircraft in Piper’s 87-year history and the second-fastest ever behind only the Piper Cheyenne 400LS turbine twin. The M700 Fury replaces the M600/SLS.

“The M700 Fury is a beautifully efficient, cross-country thoroughbred that gives our customers a performance-based flight experience with economics never seen before,” says John Calcagno, Piper president and CEO. “We listened, and we delivered. The M700 Fury encompasses power, performance, and the most advanced safety measures available today and an overall value proposition that is extremely compelling to individuals and corporate flight departments alike.”

A New Generation For The M-Class

Piper expects the M700 Fury to receive Federal Aviation Administration certification early this year, with deliveries to begin immediately after. The manufacturer anticipates international validations for Canada, Europe, and Brazil in the second half of 2024 and deliveries by year's end.

Piper says the M700 Fury represents the first step toward a new generation of the M-Class family, as the plane outperforms previous PA46 models and various competitors in performance, operational cost efficiencies, and overall value. The M-Class family also includes the M350 piston-single and M500 turboprop models.

Performance Upgrades

The M700 Fury introduces several performance improvements over the M600/SLS, including takeoff distance, departure climb, time to climb, and landing distance. They come thanks in part to a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 power plant rated for 700 shaft horsepower (522 kilowatts) that surpasses the M600’s 600-HP (447-kW) PT6A-42A engine.

Piper made several airframe changes to accommodate the engine, including employing new engine mount assemblies, an improved exhaust stack design, and a redesigned and more efficient intake plenum that provides better ram air recovery.

Garmin Avionics Highlights

The newest Piper has a touchscreen-controlled Garmin G3000 glass fight deck that includes the Halo Safety System, first certified on the M600/SLS. Halo incorporates the Autothrottle, SurfaceWatch, SafeTaxi features, as well as the fully autonomous Garmin Emergency Autoland that can be activated manually or automatically if the system senses the pilot is incapacitated.

Onboard Garmin PlaneSync technology lets the pilot use an encrypted 4G LTE cellular or Wi-Fi connection to streamline pre-flight and post-flight tasks. For example, the pilot can remotely check aircraft location, fuel level, oil temperature, and battery voltage from the Garmin Pilot app.

The M700 Fury Up Close

The M700 Fury has a maximum range of 1,149 nautical miles (2,127 kilometers) at maximum cruise speed or 1,424 nm (2,637 km) at a 292-ktas cruise speed. The plane has a 43.2-foot (13.2-meter) wingspan and is 11.5 ft (3.5 m) high and 29.7 ft (9.1 m) long.

Six new interior schemes are available, as are handcrafted exterior customization options and exclusive paint schemes. Customers can also select optional Premium, Awareness, All-Weather, and International packages.
