Gulfstream G650 & G650ER Business Jets Eligible For Honeywell Primus Epic Block 3 Upgrade
Gulfstream recently announced that Honeywell’s Primus Epic Block 3 avionics upgrade is now available for the ultra-long-range Gulfstream G650 and G650ER (extended range) business jets. Gulfstream says the upgrade provides new and improved features that build on existing visual, communication, alerting, and navigation systems. Along with more than 1,500 enhancements to the next-generation Flight Management System (FMS), the upgrade provides an option for a situational awareness package with 2D and 3D airport moving maps (AMM), ADS-B In Visual Separation on Approach, and enhanced synthetic vision system (SVS) symbology.
“Continuous improvement and ongoing enhancements for all Gulfstream aircraft are hallmarks of our ownership experience,” says Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “Development teams have prepared and perfected robust upgrades worthy of the award-winning G650 fleet. These enhancements provide operators even more tools that help pilots make informed safety decisions during all phases of flight, with particular emphasis on improving awareness in high-traffic situations and during takeoffs and landings.”
The G650 & G650ER
The winner of a Robert J. Collier Trophy, the G650 family has set more than 125 world speed records. The G650 was certified in 2012, and the G650ER was introduced in 2014. The G650ER’s 7,500-nautical-mile (13,890-kilometer) flight range tops the G650’s by 500 nm (926 km). Both aircraft have a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 and a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90. The jets are powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines and are certified for steep approaches. They include a Gulfstream PlaneView II flight deck and an enhanced flight vision system (EFVS). Both aircraft seat up to 19 passengers.
Standard & Optional Features
Standard features in the Epic Block 3 upgrade include new advanced graphics modules enabling four times the terrain resolution and enhanced gamma-correct color sets. SVS display options and better graphics on the primary flight display are also on tap.
Additional optional features include the award-winning Predictive Landing Performance System (PLPS), which includes the Honeywell Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS), the autopilot-coupled Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), and a weather package with an XM Weather update and a predictive weather hazards add-on to the Honeywell IntuVue RDR-4000 3D weather radar system.
