According to Honeywell business unit BendixKing, a developer of general-aviation avionics products, there are 6,000-plus Cessna single-engine piston aircraft in service equipped with BendixKing avionics. Those aircraft and others in Cessna pilot training and recreation lines are eligible for BendixKing’s new cockpit RMU (retrofit, modification, and upgrade) program, designed to replace “legacy avionics with advanced upgrades to help Cessna operators modernize their aircraft.” Honeywell builds aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, and more, and reports that BendixKing is at the EEA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 trade show that runs through July 29 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to provide attendees more information.

Full & Subset Options

BendixKing’s upgrades include AeroVue Touch, AeroNav, and AeroPoint 200. AeroVue Touch is a primary flight display with high-definition touchscreen that amasses all essential flight data on one screen, enabling access to all critical functions in one or two touches. AeroNav, meanwhile, is a multifunction touchscreen navigator designed to enhance flight efficiency, while AeroPoint 200 is a performance-optimizing engine analyzer and display that integrates ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast-compliant) solutions.

Honeywell says owners and operators can acquire a full RMU package or a subset one, essentially providing the ability to “upgrade anything from single products to their entire aircraft panel.” A full RMU package option provides two AeroVue systems, one AeroNav 900 and one AeroNav 800, one audio panel, one remote transponder, one AeroFlight (or KI 300) flight director indicator, and an engine display. Subset RMUs can include one AeroVue Touch display, AeroNav, AeroPoint, AeroCruze 100, or numerous other products.

Increased Longevity

BendixKing President Gregg Cohen says his company is working to provide operators with advanced, easy-to-install cockpit upgrades for current aircraft to enhance their performance. “This program gives Cessna pilots access to affordable technology that has the features and functionality of much larger aircraft,” he says. “By upgrading to our latest cockpit solutions, operators can modernize and increase the longevity of their aircraft."
