Gulfstream G700 Wins 2022 International Yacht & Aviation Award For Cabin Design
The first fully outfitted Gulfstream Aerospace G700 business jet was awarded a 2022 International Yacht & Aviation Award this week for excellence in cabin design in the Private Jet Design (Exterior and Interior) category. The company’s upcoming 19-passenger flagship is expected to enter service later this year. The aircraft, which boasts hand-tailored finishes and handcrafted furnishings, also won an IY&AA award in 2020 for its Classic Seat. Gulfstream says the G700 is the business aviation industry’s most spacious, innovative, and flexible aircraft.
“This award-winning G700 interior is featured on our first fully outfitted production test aircraft, proving design maturity and excellence,” says Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “Earning this award for the sixth consecutive year is a testament to the innovation and expertise of Gulfstream’s designers, engineers, and artisans who have helped create the company’s next-generation fleet. Step Inside The Cabin
Gulfstream introduced the G700 in October 2019. The aircraft’s maiden flight took place in February 2020, followed by its initial test flight in April 2021. In May, a second fully equipped production test aircraft was added to the program. Gulfstream says the G700’s production test interior features a “tonal palette of light, creamy neutrals and warm grays contrasted by defining accents of cinnamon and charcoal.”
Excluding baggage area, the cabin is 6.3 feet high by 8.2 ft wide by 56.92 ft long (1.9 by 2.5 by 17.3 m). It can be configured into as many as five living areas, each with a “true circadian” lighting system designed to create ideal working and resting environments. The system also prevents jet lag by simulating the sunlight of passengers’ next time zone. Additionally, the cabin includes 100% fresh, never recirculated air, and is equipped with 20 panoramic oval windows that Gulfstream says are the industry’s largest. Also on tap is the industry’s only ultra-galley with 10 ft (3 m) of counter space, Jet ConneX Ka-band Wi-Fi connectivity, and business aviation’s lowest cabin altitude at 2,916 ft (889 m) at 41,000 ft (12,497 m).
Ready To Perform
The G700’s all-new Rolls Royce Pearl 700 engines make possible a flight range of 7,500 nautical miles (13,890 kilometers), a maximum speed of Mach 0.925, a high-speed cruise speed of Mach 0.90, and a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85. The aircraft’s Symmetry Flight deck includes active-control sidesticks, touchscreen avionics, and Phase-of-Flight technology.
